Harbour Ledger
The challenge
A regional logistics group relied on a patchwork of spreadsheets and specialist tools to reconcile invoices, fees and shipment events. Finance teams repeatedly checked the same records, while month-end reporting depended on a few people knowing where the latest answer lived.
Our approach
We mapped the close process with finance and operations, traced exception paths and tested a shared view of shipment-to-invoice status. Short design reviews with daily users helped us keep the workflow grounded in actual handoffs.
What we delivered
A unified financial operations workspace with event-linked records, clear exception queues, role-based review permissions and an auditable status history. Data syncs were introduced in stages, with a practical fallback for records needing human review.
Project scope
Discovery, service design, product UX/UI, custom web software, integration planning.
Worked with: Finance, operations, engineering.
In this fictional project, reconciliation exceptions fell by 38% and month-end reporting was completed 3.2 days sooner. The largest change was operational: teams could resolve most discrepancies in one shared view rather than passing spreadsheets between inboxes.
